Textile talent in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan

Photos from a series taken during an interview with a talented young textile artist. While Khatera has no education, and worries about local disapproval from too much exposure, she does have a thriving clientele thanks to her skill and word-of-mouth. To protect Khatera’s identity these photos do not reveal her face…But imagine a lovely young woman with a shy disposition, bright eyes, a sweet smile, and lightning fast fingers with a needle.

…Watch for the interview and a complete photo gallery soon.
